Who we are

British Scope (www.britishscope.com) is a UK news and opinion website with an online shop. We are responsible for the personal data we collect through this site. If you have any questions, email us at contact@britishscope.com.

- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address and, if you give it, your name.
- Member accounts: your name, email address, profile details and any posts or comments you make.
- Shop orders: your name, delivery address, email address, phone number and order details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card details.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through the contact form.
- Website use: basic technical data such as your device, browser, IP address and the pages you visit, collected through cookies (see our Cookie Policy below).

- To send our newsletter, if you signed up for it.
- To run member accounts, groups and comments.
- To process, deliver and support your shop orders.
- To reply to your messages.
- To keep the site secure and understand how it is used so we can improve it.

Our legal basis
We rely on your consent for the newsletter and non-essential cookies, on contract to fulfil shop orders, and on our legitimate interests to run, secure and improve the site. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with
We only share your data with the services we need to run the site: our website platform (Wix), our payment provider, and delivery or print partners for shop orders. We never sell your personal data.

How long we keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Member accounts: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Orders: for six years, as required for UK tax and accounting.
- Messages: for up to two years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email contact@britishscope.com and we will reply within one month. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
